Overview & Settings

When you first log in to Blogger, you will see a list of your blogs. Just click your name or the orange pencil icon to work on your Web site.

1. Overview is where you begin each time you edit your site. This is called your Blogger Dashboard which permits you to all the things that Blogger does.

2. All the way at the bottom of your Dashboard are Settings. Click Settings and watch as the options you have on the right change.

3. In Settings you can edit the big picture of how your site works, from adding authors to permitting students and others to post and comment on your site. Make sure you are in the Basic Settings portion of Settings and click +Add authors in the Permissions--Blog Authors section.

4. Add me as an author (kkindt@ladueschools.net) to your Web site so I can watch over your shoulder as you work and help you when you have questions or problems. You can invite other teachers to be authors as well if you like so you can collaborate on the site. Be sure to click "Invite authors" when you are done.

5. In Settings, click "Posts and comments." I advise you change your Comment Moderation to "Always." Be sure to click the "Save settings" button on the upper right when you are done.

As far as the basic settings, you are done. Feel free to peruse some of the other choices you have, but as far as what you need to get started, you are ready to start changing the structure and look of your site by giving it a skeleton and skin....
