Course Description
|
Introduction to Blogger provides complete instruction on how to create an effective Web site as a classroom teacher. By the end of the course, students will have made a full Web site, including a page about themselves, pages for the courses they teach, a homework calendar page, a documents page, and a contact page. In addition, students will have at their command the tools necessary to make their site fully interactive.

Prerequisites
|
While there are no prerequisites for the course, it is helpful to have had some Web design experience using iWeb, Dreamweaver, Google Sites, or other similar Web tool.

Learning Outcomes
|
Students will be able to use a Web site as an effective communication tool between themselves and their students and the parents of their students.

Course Materials
|
Students will need access to their Google account throughout the course so that they can utilize the Web design tool Blogger. There is no textbook for the course, but there will be various links to materials on the Web and in-course handouts for the students to review.

Course Activities
|
The primary activity of the course is creating Web page to build a site with Blogger. From time to time there will be short quizzes that will assess how well students are grasping the various tools they will be using in Blogger. There are eight modules, varying in complexity and length, and most can be completed in any order; however, it is advised that you attempt each one in order if you are completely new to Web site creation.

Course Grading
|
The grade for the course is simple completion or non-completion. There will be short, self-check quizzes along the way. At the end of the course, your instructor will inspect your final site you will create and give you feedback.

Course Policies
|
The course is self-paced. You can complete the tasks in any order and should finish prior to the end of December 2014.
|
Weekly Schedule
|
The advised weekly rate for the course is to complete at least one module per week. With six modules in the course, this will take almost two months to complete. You can take longer, but do not go longer than two weeks without completing a module.
